The Cosmic Lens All-Sky Survey parent population - I. Sample selection and number counts


Abstract

A major source of uncertainty in the analysis of gravitational-lens surveys is the distribution in the redshift-luminosity plane of the population to which the lensed sources belong. This is a step to reduce this uncertainty.
